W.Va. Wesleyan spruces up steeple

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- West Virginia Wesleyan College's iconic chapel steeple is getting a facelift.

Vice President of Finance Barry Pritts says Steeplejacks of America is removing paint, repairing the woodwork and adding a vinyl coating that should last for years.

Work on the $80,000 project began Monday and should be finished within a few weeks.

Pritts says the chapel -- built in the mid-1990s -- symbolizes the school's ties with the United Methodist Church and its emphasis on community service.

Wesleyan has 1,200 students.
