Rescue League takes 101 dogs from kennel
WASHINGTON -- The Washington Animal Rescue League has accepted 101 dogs rescued from an alleged West Virginia puppy mill.
It is the largest group of animals the shelter has helped.
Veterinarians spent Thursday cleaning up the dogs and performing medical checkups. Veterinarian Nicole Eckholm says the dogs are in need of teeth cleaning and vaccinations, and must be socialized.
Visitors can see the dogs over the weekend, but most won't animals be ready to be adopted until next week.
Shelter worker Jim Monsma says people who adopt the dogs will need a lot of patience. He says the dogs will react unusually what most take for granted.Advertiser

On the Parkersburg Humane Society web page they say you are welcome to apply to any of the rescue groups who took the animals. That is a stupid statement because one of the rescues in Ohio states it doesn't adopt to anyone outside the state of Ohio! So instead of someone just going down the road to adopt, they have to go hundreds of miles away. The people in Parkersburg took on a whole lot more than they could handle or plan for and I don't feel they are taking the animals into consideration. If this was planned since May as some articles state, there should have been better planning as to how they were going to find homes for these animals.
