BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Class AAA No. 6 Bridgeport got 181 yards and two touchdowns from junior running back Wes Tonkery on Thursday, leading the Indians (2-0) to a 35-26 win over rival Robert C. Byrd.

Byrd, which went 10-0 last season, fell to 0-2 in 2008. The Eagles pulled to within a field goal of the lead twice in the second half, but both times Tonkey gave the Indians breathing room with scores.

Tonkery scored on an 80-yard run to make it 28-18, then again from 4 yards out to close the scoring in the fourth.
