Ohio sophomore commits to Huggins
Center Stanley 'going to be a monster'

MORGANTOWN - To say Bob Huggins has been recruiting up a storm would be quite accurate.

The West Virginia basketball coach got the second pledge for the Class of 2010 Tuesday when center Storm Stanley committed following a tournament in Cincinnati.

"Right now he's a 6-foot-10 athletic kid ready to compete in the Big East," said Mike Duncan, President/Director of the Ohio Basketball Club, which is Stanley's AAU organization. "He's only going to get stronger. He doesn't graduate for another two years, so he'll get bigger and better. He's got a very good upside."

Stanley, from Saint Francis de Sales High, in Toledo, Ohio, could not be reached for comment. He's the second player to commit to his recruiting class. Poca guard Noah Cottrill committed last July and is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 11 point guard and the No. 45 player in the class.

Coincidentally, Stanley and Cottrill play together on the 16-and-under OBC team.

"He's a great kid and a great player," Cottrill said. "He's young and he's got a lot to learn, but Coach Huggins thinks he can turn him into a great player and I believe he can, too. I mean, he's 6-10 and he's 15 years old. We got a really good player."

Cottrill said he's only played three events with Stanley and wasn't recruiting him to commit to WVU.

"It came out of the blue," said Cottrill. "I'm excited. He's a banger who gets his points off rebounds."

Cottrill didn't travel with the OBC to the Cincinnati tournament, but Huggins saw Stanley help the team win the bronze division of its age group at the It Takes 5ive tournament.

"He loves the game and works hard on his game and he's grown by leaps and bounds in one year," Duncan said. "I think it's a good early steal for Huggins because he's definitely going to be Big East-ready when he comes out. He's going to be a monster."
