Former Capital track and field star receives scholar-athlete honor
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Slippery Rock pole vaulter Jennifer Hansen has been named the female winner of the 2007-08 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
Two weeks ago, she was one of only three PSAC student-athletes to earn first-team Academic All-America status from ESPN The Magazine and the only one to do so in the cross country/track and field category.
Hansen, a junior elementary education major from Charleston, is a five-time PSAC champion and four-time All-America selection. The Capital graduate has a 4.0 gpa.
Hansen finished third in the pole vault at both the indoor and outdoor track and field championships this year.
