St. Albans High to induct Hall of Fame class
ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- The St. Albans High School Sports and Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame will induct its newest members Friday at 6:30 p.m. during a dinner and ceremony in the school's commons area.
The keynote speaker and distinguished alumnus inductee will be Dr. Greg Epps, who is the director of supportive services for administrative services and special assistant to the president at West Virginia State University.
Other Class of 2008 inductees include Bernard Jeffers, a 1957 graduate who played basketball for the Red Dragons and is a highly successful businessman and a big benefactor to the school; Dan Larcamp, a 1970 graduate who was an All-State football player for the Red Dragons before he continued his career at West Virginia University; and Bob Pauley, a 1975 graduate who was an outstanding wrestler and football player who became an NAIA All-American at Concord College.
Other inductees are Pat Lyons, a 1986 graduate who was an All-State basketball player who took his talent to Appalachian State University; Marc Gilbert, a 1990 graduate who was an All-State baseball player who continued his career at Davis & Elkins College; and Kim (Robinson) Dunham, a 1994 graduate who was an All-American swimmer not only at St. Albans but also at Auburn University.
The final inductee is the late Carmen "Tank" Turley, a 1955 graduate who played football at St. Albans and Montana State University. He will be honored posthumously.
Tickets for the dinner and ceremony are $25 and can be purchased at the St. Albans branches of BB&T and City National Bank. Tickets also can be purchased from Hall of Fame committee members Jim Perry, Carl Garner, Dr. Randy Robinson, Andy Spradling, Matt Downey, Carl "Sonny" Osborne and Dr. John Casto.
