Senior League state tourney opens tonight
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Little League Baseball's state tournament for Senior League play opens tonight with a doubleheader at Triana Field.
The six-team tournament will run through Tuesday night on the University of Charleston campus.
The District 3 representatives are a combined Kanawha Central/Charleston Northeast team, which won the district title, and district runner-up St. Albans. They will begin play Saturday.
Visiting teams are Summersville, Braxton County, Jefferson and Hampshire County.
The West Virginia Senior League champion advances to South Regional play with seven other state champs from Aug. 1-6 at Viera and Suntree, Fla. The Senior League World Series is set Aug. 10-16 in Bangor, Maine.
