CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police have arrested a man accused of burning his wife with the contents of a slow cooker.
Officials identified him as Michael Cleo Jones, 50, of Chandler Drive.
Charleston police responded Sunday to the West Side home where they spoke with Sheila Jones, wife of the accused.
She told police she was sleeping in their bedroom when her husband entered the room and started to drag her down the hallway, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Magistrate Court.
Jones told police her husband then started hitting her in the face with his fists, the complaint said. He then grabbed her by the arm and threw her to the floor in the kitchen, causing her to fall into a slow cooker that had been in use, spilling the contents onto her arm, it said.
She had a bruise on her lip, a knot in the middle of her forehead, a bruise on the left side of her face, and third-degree burns on her right shoulder and arm.
Her husband has been charged with malicious assault and is being held in South Central Regional Jail.
